Ms. Christine Manhart is a Company Principal and Certified Hydrogeologist who leads the Eureka geologists and environmental technicians. In her professional career, she has prepared numerous Phase I/Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) for large industrial/manufacturing facilities used in industries such as textile milling, furniture manufacturing, chemical processing, and tire remanufacturing, and for small commercial properties such as gas stations, print shops, and lumber facilities. 

Ms. Manhart has investigated, monitored, and remediated numerous impacted properties with a variety of constituents of concern. Property types included underground storage tank sites primarily impacted with petroleum hydrocarbons and municipal landfills with a wide range of COCs including petroleum hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and heavy metals.

Ms. Manhart has abundant experience in contaminated site investigation and remediation; as well as, environmental due diligence for commercial property transactions. She is also experienced in the presentation of results to stakeholders and through professional presentations.

Before working at LACO, what was the most unusual or interesting job you had?
“Massage therapist”

What have you gained from working at LACO?
“I realized how much I enjoy mentoring people and helping them figure out their careers and goals.”

What are your hopes for the industry?
“That we learn to be more inclusive so that we don’t a lot of the bright young professionals that enter the AEC industry but leave early. We need new voices at the upper ends of management.”

What is the best advice you can give to a new hire?
“This isn’t just for new hires – I tell everybody! You can’t be afraid to fail. If you’re not risking failure, you’re not stretching the boundaries of your comfort zone and if you don’t stretch you don’t grow.”

How do you define success?
“Always having a forward trajectory. There are always hiccups along the way, but I always want to be moving forward.”

What professional/personal growth opportunities have you been able to accomplish while working at LACO?
“Purchased our first home (ages ago). More recently, professional certification.”

What is your favorite travel spot?
“So far, Norway, but I’m not done yet.”

If you had to give a 15 minute presentation on any topic with no prep time, what topic would you pick?
“Weaving”

What is the first concert you ever attended?
“Atlanta Rhythm Section”

What was the last book you read?
“For fun: book 4 of the Expanse series. For work: Radical Candor”

“Mansplaining”
